Martin Luther’s Theological Thoughts on Worship and Appreciation of His Hymns
“Professor Qu Yawen’s new book, Martin Luther’s Theological Thoughts on Worship and Appreciation of His Hymns, provides a clear, concise, and powerful explanation of Luther’s views on worship and music. It offers an insightful and engaging introduction to twenty hymns composed or adapted by Luther.”
— Dr. Thomas Yu, Honorary President of the Chinese Lutheran Theological Seminary
“The hymns and their individual analyses in this book not only occupy nearly half of the entire volume but are also the most valuable part. In an era where traditional hymns have been marginalized, this is nothing less than a warm invitation to rediscover their treasures; it is also a meaningful act in celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The author earnestly invites us to prepare our hearts to revisit the neglected, timeless works of the ‘Father of Hymns’!”
— Liao Yuanwei, Vice President of International European Chinese Theological Seminary
“Luther’s views on church worship and music, simply put, are based on the Bible and reflect the needs of the times. Professor Qu Yawen, with insightful and profound arguments, wrote the book Martin Luther’s Theological Thoughts on Worship and Appreciation of His Hymns, introducing Luther’s propositions on worship and music, which is worth reading.”
— Liu Xiaoyong, President of China Lutheran Theological Seminary
“This is a concise and well-written book, without unnecessary words. It is also a small book written for most Christians—if…you always follow the established procedures in worship (or actively participate), but never quite understand the meaning of each procedure. This is also a unique and carefully crafted work, especially the twenty hymn analyses in Part Two.”
— Dr. Joseph Lu, Dean of Theological Education for Believers and Director of the Mission Center, China Lutheran Theological Seminary; Pastor of the Chinese Evangelical Fellowship
