《路德文集》卷四，正是路德這段時期辛勤思考、筆耕，豐碩成果的一部分。本文集的編輯原則，大致是以「年代」為主，「主題」為輔。但為了使讀者對本卷路德著作內容有更清楚的概念，我們明確的以四個主題為經，再以各主題內相關論著的完成時間為緯，編織、呈現出本卷的結果。這四個核心主題分別是「為改革立場辯護」、「關切婚姻與家庭」、「針對修道誓願」，以及「經濟與教育議題」，皆以肯定聖經權威的立場論述。盼透過這些文章，能幫助讀者深入了解路德的教會改革理念，教會與事工，以及基督徒與社會等相關議題。
Luther’s Works Volume Four: Faith and Society II
Volume IV of Luther’s Works is a part of the fruitful results of Luther’s diligent thinking and writing during this period. The editorial principle of this collection is generally based on “chronology” as the primary approach and “theme” as a secondary approach. However, to give readers a clearer understanding of the content of Luther’s works in this volume, we have explicitly used four themes as the warp and the completion dates of related works within each theme as the weft, weaving and presenting the results of this volume. These four core themes are “Defending the Reformation Stance,” “Concern for Marriage and Family,” “On Monastic Vows,” and “Economic and Educational Issues,” all of which are discussed from the perspective of affirming the authority of the Bible. It is hoped that these articles will help readers gain a deeper understanding of Luther’s ideas on church reformation, church and ministry, and related issues concerning Christians and society.
內容簡介：本卷所收錄的論著，是路德寫於1519-1530年間的作品，年代雖與卷一、卷二有相當的重疊，但跨越的時期卻是比前兩卷更長。從1519年的萊比錫辯論，到1530年的奧斯堡會議，路德一方面腹背受敵，生命幾度受到威脅；但另一方面卻也是他目標清楚，積極論述的時期。他在實境中針對許多議題發抒論點，思想與架構愈發成熟。
Synopsis: The works collected in this volume were written by Luther between 1519 and 1530. While the dates overlap considerably with Volumes I and II, the period spanned is longer than that of the previous two volumes. From the Leipzig Debates of 1519 to the Augsburg Conference of 1530, Luther faced challenges from all sides, his life threatened several times; however, this was also a period in which he had clear goals and actively engaged in discourse. He expressed his arguments on many issues in real-world situations, and his thought and structure matured increasingly.

馬丁路德（Martin Luther），出生於德國艾斯勒本（Eisleben）的一戶佃農家庭，他父親鼓勵他進入愛爾福特（Erfurt）大學攻讀法律。他在那裡修習哲學與法律課程，研讀古典著作，並在二十歲獲得碩士學位，接著就成為民法律師。然而，在旅途中遭遇雷擊導致隨行同伴死亡後，路德就捨棄法律，並在1505年7月進入奧古斯丁修會的修道院。他在1507年被按立為神父，接著在威登堡（Wittneburg）大學擔任哲學與聖經研究講師，並在三十歲時獲得神學博士。1517年因反對贖罪券，馬丁路德把他的95條論綱釘在威登堡（Wittenberg）教會大門上，之後啟動了一場翻天覆地的教會改革運動，歷史上稱之為宗教改革。
Martin Luther was born into a tenant farmer’s family in Eisleben, Germany. His father encouraged him to study law at the University of Erfurt. There, he studied philosophy and law, read classical texts, and earned his master’s degree at the age of twenty, becoming a civil lawyer. However, after a lightning strike during a journey that killed his companion, Luther abandoned law and entered an Augustinian monastery in July 1505. He was ordained a priest in 1507 and then served as a lecturer in philosophy and Biblical studies at the University of Wittenberg, earning his doctorate in theology at the age of thirty. In 1517, opposing indulgences, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the doors of the Wittenberg church, thus launching a revolutionary church reform movement known in history as the Reformation.
