Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture: Revelation

Since the second century, the Book of Revelation has been read and used by Christian authors. Although interpretations vary—from Pitt’s Victor Nathaniel’s millennialism to the more symbolic interpretation of Tecumseh—and different authors use Revelation to address specific topics, such as proving millennialism, offering concrete moral exhortations, encouraging chastity, or citing it for theological or doctrinal reasons, ACCS: Revelation powerfully demonstrates the spiritual interpretation of Revelation by the ancient Church Fathers. It shows us that the visionary Revelation can teach the church to live godly and hopefully in the days between Christ’s death and resurrection and His second coming; this is the time when the devil is bound, believers are resurrected through faith, and the church battles Satan. The Church Fathers used this to guide and encourage their readers to run the path toward the New Jerusalem.

Synopsis: The commentaries selected for this volume are primarily from eight authors: Victor of Pittah, Teconnis, Pimatius, Caesareus of Arles, Aparecius of Bea, Bede, Oeucumenius, and Andrei of Caesarea. In these commentaries, the editors have strived to provide ample context so that readers can see how the commentators creatively utilize the Bible, their theological interests, and their pastoral intentions. This volume invites all Christians to listen to the voice of the Church Fathers and, through them, to recognize the faith that unites all Christians.

威廉．溫理克(William C. Weinrich)
巴賽爾大學神學博士，印第安納州協同神學院的學術院長。是協同神學院的初代教會史教授，也擔任協同神學季刊的書評編輯。著有《聖靈與殉道》及《新約時代：Bo Reicke紀念文集》

黃錫木
南非普勒陀利亞大學文學博士，香港中文大學崇基學院神學院榮譽副研究員並兼任講師，現為聯合聖經公會（亞太區）翻譯顧問。

William C. Weinrich holds a Doctor of Theology degree from Basel University and is the Academic Dean of Concordia Theological Seminary in Indiana. He was a founding professor of church history at Concordia Theological Seminary and also serves as the book review editor for the Concordia Theological Quarterly. His works include The Holy Spirit and Martyrdom and The New Testament Age: A Collection of Essays in Memory of Bo Reicke.

Dr. Xi Mu Huang holds a PhD in Literature from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He is an Honorary Associate Research Fellow and Lecturer at the School of Theology, Chung Chi College, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is currently a translation consultant for the United Bible Societies (Asia Pacific).
