Selected Works of Martin Luther (Volume Two)
The Department of Mission at Jinling Theological Seminary oversees the compilation and translation of renowned Christian texts from across the ages. This effort to translate important Christian classics from the past two millennia into Chinese will undoubtedly greatly benefit the development of thought and faith among Chinese Christians.
The 16th-century anti-papal movement can be divided into four branches: those originating from the Lutheran, Calvinist, Anglican, and various smaller denominations. This volume reveals how Luther, with his fearless spirit, fought valiantly to restore Biblical truth, exposing, denouncing, and reforming the falsehoods and vices perpetuated by papacy over centuries due to greed.
Synopsis: Luther is renowned not only as a reformer but also as an educator, especially a religious educator. In this volume, Luther’s propositions on education spurred the National Council to implement his suggestions. From then on, the schools established by Lutheran churches became exceptionally excellent.

About the Author
Martin Luther was born into a tenant farmer’s family in Eisleben, Germany. His father encouraged him to study law at the University of Erfurt. There, he studied philosophy and law, read classical texts, and earned his master’s degree at the age of twenty, becoming a civil lawyer. However, after a lightning strike during a journey that killed his companion, Luther abandoned law and entered an Augustinian monastery in July 1505. He was ordained a priest in 1507 and then served as a lecturer in philosophy and Biblical studies at the University of Wittenberg, earning his doctorate in theology at the age of thirty. In 1517, opposing indulgences, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the doors of the Wittenberg church, thus launching a revolutionary church reform movement known in history as the Reformation.
