Church Calendar Practical Guide

“This book is a collection of reflections. Living under the influence of the church calendar, the different festivals have given me much enlightenment. After studying it for over twenty years, I’ve discovered its immense power, even lifelong benefit. Truly, after writing this book, I feel that the church calendar is actually a superior inner spiritual practice, a method of cultivating inner strength rather than a method of wielding the sword. It uses inner strength to guide the sword, with the theology of the six festivals as its inner strength: to bring hope to life (Season of Advent), to be in God’s presence (Season of Christmas), to resemble Christ (Season of Epiphany), to be faithful to the calling (Season of Lent), to have a powerful life (Season of Easter), and to serve others (Season of Pentecost). Synopsis: The book covers the content and characteristics of each festival in the church calendar, allowing each believer to grasp the theology and reflection of different festivals, cultivating their own spiritual life. The book is recommended by Supervisor Dai Haohui and Teacher Wu Zhongen, who wrote the foreword. The book is titled “Practical Guide” because Pastor Zhang teaches us what hymns to sing, what scriptures to read, what prayers to pray for each festival, as well as quizzes, reflections, and applications. It is a work that emphasizes both knowledge and practice.
