「疫境中的路德：人是否逃離致命的瘟疫」

此書收錄的兩篇文章，雖相隔數世紀，都是在疫情發生時作出的回應。

首篇是改革運動家馬丁路德於1527年期間所撰的《人可否逃離致命的瘟疫》。當時德意志地區發生嚴峻的瘟疫，地區教牧們面對信仰的疑問，就是基督徒逃避致命的瘟疫是否恰當，便向他們的領袖馬丁路德求教。路德縱然忙於照顧患，牧養信徒，健康也欠佳，但身為神學家，他仍負起以上帝話語服務教會的責任，完成此文章，回應逼切的需要。

第二篇是由當代致力研究路德的學者李廣生博士所撰的《路德論教會當如何面對瘟疫》。此文不單為路德上述一文作出導讀，幫助人了解其中的信息，更帶領讀者作出處境和應用，以回應其時正值沙士疫情的挑戰。此文現經李博士修訂納入此書中。

Luther in the Midst of Plague: Whether One May Flee from a Deadly Plague

This book includes two essays, separated by centuries, both responses to pandemics.

The first is “Can Man Escape the Deadly Plague?” written by the Reformed movement leader Martin Luther in 1527. At that time, a severe plague struck Germany, and local pastors faced a question of faith: was it appropriate for Christians to flee the deadly plague? They sought advice from their leader, Martin Luther. Despite being busy caring for the sick and pastors, and suffering from poor health, Luther, as a theologian, still took on the responsibility of serving the church with the Word of God, completing this essay in response to the urgent need.

The second essay is “Luther on How the Church Should Face the Plague?” written by Dr. Peter Li, a contemporary scholar dedicated to Luther studies. This essay not only provides an introduction to Luther’s aforementioned essay, helping readers understand its message, but also guides readers in applying the situation to respond to the challenges of the SARS epidemic. This essay has been revised by Dr. Li and included in this book.
