Chinese Christianity and the Evangelical Gospel
“Dr. Thompson’s book, Chinese Christianity and the Evangelical Gospel, serves as a wake-up call in this age of ‘anything goes,’ reminding Christians how to discern truth from falsehood and to understand and uphold the Gospel faith.”
—Pastor Dai Haohui, Vice President of Lutheran Theological Seminary
“This book encourages Chinese believers to remember the example of Wang Mingdao—to identify wolves in sheep’s clothing within the church and to uphold the full truth of God’s word. I highly recommend Dr. Glen Thompson’s Chinese Christianity and the Evangelical Gospel.”
—Pastor Wang Yiping, General Director of the Hosanna Foundation
Synopsis: In order for the Chinese church to realize its full potential within the universal church, it must become a confessional church. This book explores the importance of creed in church history and the phenomenon of the gradual fading of creed within modern Protestantism (including the Chinese church). Through an analysis of the influence of prominent figures in the 20th-century Chinese church such as Wang Mingdao, Song Shangjie, Watchman Nee, and Jia Yuming, the book delves into the theological and leadership dilemmas of the church. The appendix includes a highly influential article by Wang Mingdao, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to Biblical teachings and offering valuable insights for contemporary believers.
